Be Stream Wise

Vegetation along streambanks and floodplains helps to stabilize those areas and prevents erosion that can carry sediment and phosphorus to Lake Champlain.

You can take many steps to protect and restore the native vegetation and natural processes of land near rivers and streams. The Stream Wise program provides handbooks and other resources to help you protect these areas.

Stream Wise partners will also come to your property to conduct a site assessment, provide technical assistance and targeted recommendations for streambank protection. Based on the results of the assessment, you will receive a Certificate of Stream Wise Participation or a Stream Wise Award for Best Management Practices in a Vegetated Stream Buffer.

Be Rewarded.
